Hi - After two months of preparations I finally received my first frogs. I got 3 R. Imitator 'tarapoto' from UE this weekend. I have kept tropical fish for many years and still have 5 tanks going but this is the first time that I keep frogs or build a terrarium. A lot to learn The terrarium has been going for 2 months and was seeded with isopods and springtails. It is a 12x12x18 exo-terra. Here is a picture: The temperature is around 23-24C and the humidity is in the high 90s. And here are some pictures of the new arrivals: The first is a male that started calling as soon as he got into the tank. Here is a pic of him calling: The other two I am not sure. They seem to be doing well and eating but I have a question. They keep on being attracted by the light on the top glass. One keeps on jumping against the top glass when the light is on. Is this a normal part of them exploring the new home? Should I turn off/dim the light for a while until they get comfortable? I am really excited! Thanks
Ive seen this when introducing new frogs to a tank. My bet is this will stop in a week, looks like they have a ton of places to hide. Beautiful frogs!
Very nice frogs and vivarium. My blackwaters did the same when i first got them but it stopped within a day.
