Hey guys, I just picked up 3 juvenile amazonica iquitos today from understory. In a matter of about an hour I started to hear calling and could visibly see one of them doing it.

I'm still only a few months into the hobby so I was unaware they'd be calling this young. It was pretty exciting to hear. Does anyone have any similar experiences regarding this sort of behaviour? Does it mean anything specifically? I'll add a pic of the culprit just for fun

    Thanks[IMG]

This has been my experience with UE frogs as well. More often than not, there is calling within 24 hours.

that's cool. I guess they just consistently supply some healthy offspring

Most males in the Ranitomeya genus mature pretty young. It's the females that take a bit longer.

This behaviour is typical of a male going into new surrounds and claiming his territory. You'll likely have some eggs in the near future :)

I got a group of them yesterday as well. No calling that I've heard yet but they are already full grown as I imagine yours are as well. They are a beautiful frog and you can't go wrong with the current price on them lol

They're full grown? I figured they had some growing to do still. I had no idea

Yeah they're full grown. The females will get a little wider but not longer. They're thumbnail frogs

Yea I know I just have never seen them in anything other than pictures so I have no frame of reference. That's good to know, thanks
