Hi I'm located in Burlington Ontario. My son and I have a mantis egg incubating right now. We will need flies for hatchling food. I was hoping someone in my area had an extra FF culture they could sell me or refer a local source.

    Thanks.

What type of Mantis are you breeding and have eggs for?

Hi RJ, it's nothing exotic, just the common garden speice. We bought an ootheca from NIC (naturalinsectcontrol.com). No plans to breed them. I'd love to own some of the exotic mantids that are out there, but I'm not sure they're available in Canada.

Ya that is why I was asking. I have seen the diabolic mantis and they are amazing looking so are the orchid mantis. I know NIC we have bought predatory insects from them many times. Well good luck with them. Maybe that will be your start and if it works well you will have to see if you can buy egg sacks of the exotic ones. :)

Thanks Ron, unfortunately I'm pretty sure the exotic ones are not allowed in Canada. Which is a bummer. I bought a sack from them a few years ago. It's mind blowing when that thing hatched. :D I hope this one has the same results.

The butterfly conservatory in Cambridge has some neat crawlies on display at times. It's ashame we can't buy exotic insects here.
