After talking to a few people and seeing just how many things can arise from deals going off or just not 100% on track, here are a few key points to keep in mind when buying/selling/trading on the forum. Please remember that Canadart is in no way, shape or form responsible for any business deals gone astray!

Treat everyone the same, if you’re dealing with a complete stranger or a long time forum friend, don’t assume anything, and always lay out the full terms before you agree.

Assume nothing! If something goes wrong and it wasn’t laid out in the original agreement, then it become a he said, she said thing and there’s no way to settle that.

Leave a paper trail. Ok so in the digital world, we don’t do paper, but have e-mails or pm’s outlining your deal with what it is, how much, to where, and when. Anything that you agree on should be covered in e-mails and pms. And on the senders side, Always get tracking numbers and the like so that you can prove you sent objects. Pictures are always a good tool.

Payments. PayPal and credit Cards. Both great ways to pay as you can dispute claims right with the agents if you have a deal go south.

Hope for the best, plan for the worst! No one wants to think of what will happen when your frogs arrive all dead, or plants get lost for 3 weeks in the mail and dry as can be, but you need to have it laid out before you agree. 99% of the time deals are great, but theres always that 1% lurking out there and if its you you’ll want to know that they will be compensated, or that there was insurance or the like. Some people/places are ship at your own risk, that’s fine it just needs to be discussed prior to purchase.

Cover your butt! Remember in the end it is all about making sure your affairs are in order weather you’re the buyer or seller. Know what your getting into and don’t just hope that you’ll come out on top, because If things go wrong, you will have to make or break your own case.

    Happy Frogging
    Canadart Team
