    Hey everyone,

I know this has been attempted a number of times on this board, but I thought I would give it another shot. Let's try to avoid some of the drama what went along with the previous attempts to get a simple listing of 'who is keeping what and where' going. (See Exhibit A: http://canadart.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=2463)

It has been argued by some on this board that there is no point in doing this if not everyone participates. I disagree. Sure, there are going to be people coming and going. That's the nature of the hobby at this point.

If we all had a better idea of who was keeping what and where it would:
    • help people pair up frogs/add to groups
    • assist newcomers in finding their first frogs locally
    • give an updated list of active local froggers in case of emergency (FF crash, basement flood, etc)
    • allow for greater diversity of frogs across the country (if I see that my neighbour is keeping Tarapotos, I might choose Veraderos when having a shipment sent to maximize local availability for other froggers)
    • And finally - Why not? If you are keeping something that is not legal in your area or you don't want to share, simply don't participate.

Newcomers could be directed to the list to find a local person to ask for advice or to to see some setups in person. Seeing my first breeding setup at Perry's old place certainly helped get me started in the hobby.

We have attempted a hosted registry, but this appears to have fallen flat, so I propose a simple thread/sticky somewhere on this forum. A single post that could be kept up to date by either the mods/admins or a user if they do not want to take on the responsibility of maintaining the list.

I welcome and comments or suggestions on getting this started in a way that is most effective for the whole community.

    Thanks!

    Thanks Drew!

I was thinking the list could go in either the Introductions or Important Messages forum as a sticky.

Also, email addresses or a quick way to get in touch (other than PM!) might be a good idea.
