looking for leaf litter in vancouver area.
Just grab some leaves from under a tree and sanitize with boiling water.
I have Florida Southern live oak leaves and Californian Southern Magnolia leaves.
I'm not in B.C. but I can ship if your interested.
what leaves would be appropriate for a vivarium? is it possible to use rhododendron leaves? thanks
Ya rotodendon leaves are fine! Ive used them before with no problems. If you're not sure what kind of leaves they are use leaves that are already turned brown. That is a good indication any toxins or alkaloids that could harm frogs would be broken down and pour boiling water over them to sanitize. Let them soak over night too.
great thank you
Port Coquitlam doesn't use 'cides on public land. I collect from several pedestrian areas with a great range of useable tree varieties, from the very small to the very big.
wait till fall, you will have infinity amount of oak leaf every where
Who sells magnolia and oak leaves locally? I am the type of person who won't collect my own haha.
Not that I am necessarily suggesting it... but I used to grab dead Magnolia leaves from below the Magnolia tree at Montecito towers in Burnaby... Don't know whether they use pesticides etc. but I used to wash them in hot tap water (no soaps etc.) then let them dry before use... I used to live there and no one seemed to complain when I took them... It is private property so make your own decisions.
Regular magnolia leaves from trees grown in Canada are not the same as the Southern Magnolia trees.
Our magnolia leaves are thin and break down very fast compared to the Southern magnolia leaves which are thick and take a long time to break down.
If you are interested in Almond leaves I have bags of them.
My wife would be more than happy if I was to get them out of the house.
I have a large oak in my backyard, just waiting for them to fall
