I've been shopping around for cork flats and rounds lately and the cheapest I've found that will ship to canada is from Josh's frogs, even with the international shipping it comes to $6.40ish per pound. That price is for 35lbs shipped without duty/taxes... has anyone ordered from there before?

Have a look at reptilejunkie.ca they sell all kinds of cork. I've never used them yet. Maybe someone on this site has and can chime in.

I have ordered from Josh's Frogs a number of times. Their costumer service is amazing and everything is packaged well and always on time. If you go with their fastest shipping option, you will get nailed with a large duty charge a month or two after your shipment arrives. If you're not in a hurry, go with a longer delivery date and it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not entirely sure to be honest. It has to do with FedEx. It happened to me twice, where I received big duty fees quite a while after receiving my packages. Both times I received my shipment a day or two after purchasing them though. When I contacted Josh's Frogs, they were apologetic, but said that it was nothing that they could control. I have also read similar problems with people paying high duty fees from Josh's Frogs on Dendroboard. I will still buy from them in the future, I will just go with a cheaper shipment method or plan on paying a little extra down the road.

The extra charges are: "advancement fee" which Fedex said is because of not having a account with Fed EX.
The other fee is a "clearance fee "which they say is because it was shipped by ground.(if it was shipped by express Fedex says they would have covered that fee)
Then there is the HST / GST

More on extra charges with Fedex

It says they will not ship plants or anything live internationally, leaf litter might fall into this category?
