Been a slow start, but finally getting there.
Stand is built and glass is all siliconed together. Tested for leaks and we're good to go.
Have all my materials so will focus on getting this build finished up sooner than later.
It's a bigger build, dimensions being 36x24x36 Euro style front sliding glass.
Cork mosaic, Malaysian driftwood with a small pond area.
PS- Had loads of pictures but the files are too big. Needs to get some sleep so not gonna mess with trying to figure all this out...
Over the past few months when time permits (aka when my kiddo is sleeping), I have put together my experiences with true nominal fantastica. I've put it into a website called Rananova.ca which will in the future have other write ups as well. I'm not 100% done the true nominal write up but there is enough info there that I felt it was ok to share it now. I'll continue to update it over the next few months.
You can read the text write up below or view the full write up at...
A couple of friends from the good old US of A have put together an awesome poster of ALL the Ranitomeya available in the hobby as of right now. I am going to put together a group buy for anyone that would like one in the GTA. You'd have to come pick it up from me in Burlington. Not interested in reshipping.
Of course you are welcome to order your own from the link below, but if we do a group buy, we can double up on posters per roll up container and also save on individual...
It was brought to my attention today that Registration Confirmation and Automated Notification emails were not working. Looks like they have not been working for around 8 weeks. This issue was due to a limitation change by the current web host.
I have made the appropriate changes and my tests have confirmed that emails are now working again.
If you or someone you know has not been able to register due to confirmation emails not being delivered, please let me know.
Apologies for this!
I know commonly the build threads are done in photo format, however I made this incredibly long vivarium build for my youtube channel Most you you that know how to build vivariums might not find a ton of interest in it, however the new comers to the hobby might get something out of the video!
If anyone choose to watch it and has some recommendations I would love to hear!
CONGRATULATIONS TO @dawndj for winning the mobile contest!
--- VOTING CLOSED ---
Please vote for ONE photo as the winner of the Mobile prize. Poll will close on Oct 31, 2016.
-I have kept these frogs for four years-
Note: Previously knows as R. ventrimaculata these frogs are now referred to R. amazonica.
These beautiful little frogs are arguably some of the easiest thumbnails to keep and are often recommended as an introductory species to Ranitomeya. Striking colours, prolific breeders, great in groups, and hardy nature makes this frog an interesting and rewarding species to work with.
Colour and pattern variation is noticeable between individuals...

For the June poll we would like to know what the community would like to see happen on Canadart in the upcoming months. Some of the poll choices are not exactly 'forum features' but are all directly related to the forum and community growth.
Make sure you select all features that apply to you and if you choose 'Other' please post your idea in this thread. As always feel free to discuss the poll options as well.
*This poll is to judge interest and we cannot guarantee these features are...
Hi Fellow Canadians!
I'm currently constructing a custom in-wall vivarium in my home as a show piece on the main level. I have a build journal I'm actively updating on another forum, but a fellow member, I have been speaking to online, convince me to put it up here. So here goes.
I have a few of these recessed spaces in walls throughout the main floor of my house. They are meant for art or some sort of decor, but I came up with an idea of built-in vivarium that feels like a part...
Over the next few nights Canadart will be getting a brand new user photo gallery addon. There may be intermittent downtime. Don't panic!
This new user photo gallery will take over what is currently in place for a user gallery. As far as I can see, importing previously uploaded images from current user galleries should work fine. I hope that is the case!
I'll update this thread when the addon is ready for all of you guys to use!
Hey guys! Here is the monthly poll for May 2016.
Select all that apply, and please only tell us what you are currently keeping.
Feel free to discuss in further detail below as well!
If I have missed a genus that you feel should be represented in this poll outside of 'Other' please let me know!
There are a bunch of people that post picture steps of how they build their tanks but I make Youtube videos and figured that filming pretty much the whole process and all the supplies you need might be useful to some people. I know most of the active members on here are well aware of how to Build vivs but I would love some feed back from you guys on the build and what maybe you would have done differently or info I may have wrong. Now if you have some time to sit back and watch a long video...
Anyone else tinkered with the WEMO outlets or switches to control their setups? I am using the WEMO outlet, which allows a customized on/off schedule for whatever you need timer controls on. Right now, I have my tank light connected to the WEMO, and it will turn on at sunrise and shut off at sunset, but the timer is completely configurable. I even have my Amazon Echo device hooked in, for voice control (just on and off functions).
A few weeks ago I was approached by someone who was looking to downsize his collection. Among other frogs he had a 2.1 trio of Atelopus Hoogmoedi that he was looking to sell. Other than them being fairly rare, I didn't know much about them. We've had them for awhile now and I heard some calling yesterday. He said he has witnessed amplexus. I've been learning a lot on old threads from here and dendroboard. Securing a female is apparently very rare so it only makes sense to do as much research...
ok first off I know next to nothing about plants so I'm trying to learn.
I got these really nice plant cuttings from Jan this weekend and don't really know to get these to root properly. I know he told me. But my brain didn't retain any of the information lol
Would someone be willing to help me out with any information on the matter
