    Hi Xavier,

Thanks... Well, I guess from what I've seen it's a bit better than other places. I have visited mostly the areas between Ciudad Guyana, Embalse de Guri, and Canaima. South of El Manteco the forest seems still quite well preserved. I think this is the first Cessna flight I have taken where you can actually be airborne for a full half hour, and as far as you can see in all directions there is nothing but forest. Although I have heard recently that logging concessions have been sold for this area, so the future seems dismal... I agree though, Venezuela has their fair share of issues. I've heard of the issues south of Canaima, and I have seen first hand the destruction by some of the larger gold firms, including a North American venture that has cooperated with Minerven to produce a massive, unlined Cyanide tailings pond near El Callao. It was horrible to see, the whole thing surrounded by dead trees, and birds nesting right next to it all... This same pond was also conveniently built above the river, with it's inevitable flow of toxins into the groundwater to pollute the forests... Well, regardless of anything, it's still such an amazing place...

    Hi Jared,

Yes it is still ok but at the rate it is going, in about 20 years we might have only 1/3 of what we have right now in Venezuela...it is certantly a very sad thing not only in Venezuela but out there in other countries as well, from what you have said.

Where are you located at Jared?

    Cheers

    Xavier.

I'm going to Alberta next week.....I hope it will stop raining before I go.

Also, I went yesterday at the biodome of Montreal breeding facility for darts and I've saw a morph of auratus that was all black, I do not remenber the name of the morph but they have four that they are not able to breed (I think they are all male!!!).
Also, they told me that some years ago, they use to have D. granuliferus but they losed them.

The Black auratus is just called D. auratus "Black" and it comes from Panama.

    Well not bad after all.
Seems like many efforts have been made to diversify the canadian population. It's great.
Hope we will preserve all this.It takes dedicated people and I think we have them.
