It is quite possible, each province has different exotics laws. They are not allowed in New Brunswick at the moment, however the list of species is currently being revised so I'm crossing my fingers.

Saddly it is true ALL dart frogs will soon be illegal in Alberta. Apparently all garter snakes as well... The TARAS website has more info.

    Heres the quote I found:

Here's the BIG one...ALL poison frogs are now illegal to possess. EVERY SINGLE SPECIES. Clearly brainiacs were at work on this law. No doubt, no debate - by listing both families, they make it clear.

so, is there a link to the actual statement on the Alberta governments website? Or is this someone thinking he read it to mean that? I have been looking all day and havent found this statement anywhere on any alberta government websites..

So far as the buzz i have been reading it will be hard to find facts on websites as it is a law yet to be passed.

Has there been any discussion on how to influence the revisions of the act prior to the law being passed?

From I have been seeing and hearing it was an all around surprise. When I contacted my buddy at Big Al's he had said that even Fish and Wildlife didn't know it changed. Im interested to see if this was simply Institutional Failure and will be corrected soon.

Talking about total ignorant idiots in power eh... Like please enlighten me to only ONE problem related to poison frog on the whole planet.
I can prolly bring you hundreds if not thousands related to chihuahuas and horses tho.

If I was you guys, I would be pissed but I wouldn't worry too much. First thing, I'd definitely try and go stealth from now on. Use TOR to post about frogs, sell or buy.
Other thing is I don't see that as ever being enforced anyways.

I just can't believe it. Ugh.

I am fairly confidant we can correct this problem. There is of course no logical reason for the changes that we know of. I will share any information we know.

Who knows? Maybe we can get Philobates off that list while people are talking... Which if im not mistaken was accidentaly left out of the list of genus', which is weird because at one time they were the only ones restricted... Just Bizzare.

    6. ALL POISON ARROW FROGS (Family
    Dendrobatidae and Family Aromobatidae)

I believe they are banning the whole family and not specific genera. So all the frog we commonly call poison dart frogs(dendro, oophaga, ranitomeya...)

Agreed. If you do have contact information for anyone who is involved in this process please let me know. It always helps to have more than one voice that is concerned to ensure the message is heard. Is this something that MLAs could influence?
