That's some nice looking wood. Did you find it online or locally?
The wood was obtained from Peterborough Reptile. They usually have booths in the local reptile expos in the Greater Toronto Area with much smaller pievces. Spoke to the owner and he arranged to provide these large pieces and drove them to my house for me as well.
BTW... thanks for bringing it up... good to find out early if my layer was too thin.
I connected the humidifier (removable with a union on the main pipe to vivarium) and did a test run... everything looks to be working as expected.
Front glass arrived and is installed to ensure everything fits. Don't mind the dirty glass / protective bumpers on the glass as I haven't removed them yet. I will still be removing he glass as now I can tough up the background texture to go all the way to the rails and vents. Here are some pics of the glass sliders.
Hello all, just rented a par meter for the day. Here are my results for MAX power (running @ 1A on all LEDs) and MIN power (start / end of daylight cycle). Ramp up is 1 hour from MIN to MAX, 10 hours at MAX, then 1 hour ramp down from MAX to MIN and then off.
PAR values max at 0” from glass at 1050 to 1090 µmol / m² / s.
PAR values at 18” (mid height) MAX at 200 to 250 µmol / m² / s.
Here is more details results at 6” intervals form glass for MIN values (start of ramp up / end of ramp down).

so what heights are playing on planting at?
Most of the branchy wood I plan to put bromeliads on is around the 12"-24" range from the top.
Oh, and vines and ferns will start for the bottom.
*FIX* Vines are from the bottom not for the bottom. So hoping all the light levels are good.
Long time no update... been working and holidays... but got some planting done... more to come, then leaves, then who knows.
Looking great so far! I can imagine you'll be as patient and careful with the planting as you are with everything else, which will make it that much better in the long run. It's still a little tough to grasp the sizeof it with pictures alone: do you think you could sit inside of it so we can get a sense of scale? Ha ha.
You're a mad man in the best possible way! So much planning and cool modifications! Fantastic
There we go... I poked my head into the picture with my daughter to give a bit of scale... I am in front of the tank... sorry not going to sit in it.. haha.
Amazing! That thing really is huge.
How old is that daughter of yours?
She will be 17 months tomorrow.
