well I picked up an exo terra 36x18x18 last night. I'm just starting to plan things out. I have a question about the false bottom. As this is the biggest viv I have worked on what do people recommend? Hydro balls? Egg crate? Or something else? I've always used hydro balls in the past.

You'd need a crazy amount of leca (hydro balls). I'd say use egg crate for this one. You'll save a ton of money.

Egg Crate will also save you a ton of weight

Here's a picture of what I got. Just need to clean everything out and ready to start working. It also came with a fogger that I will be using in the build. Thanks kijiji.

I won't be using the stand so if anyone is interested in it just PM me. [IMG]

Well last night I was able to do a water test to make sure it holds water, being that it's a used tank. Good news it passed.
I was able to start working on the false bottom too. Hopefully after work today I'll be able to work it again.
I think I'll be keeping this one simple. I'm going to use a small "pond" in the front corner for when I need to get some water out.
Still looking for a nice piece of wood to put in there. I'm also thinking of using the fake "rock" background that came with it on the two sides of the tank and doing the usual spray foam for the back.
Let me know what you guys think. You all have great ideas would love to hear them.
Oh yeah not positive yet but I'm thinking a group of terribs in here.

Well I think I may have found a piece of wood that might work in there. Just trying to figure it out the placement. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

I found it at nursery in waterdown. I think it's called connan. Not bad $15.

Well I did some work on it tonight. Here's what I got done. Finished the false bottom.

The then used the background that I got with the tank and used it to cover the two side walls.
And I think that's the final position for the wood too.
I was also able to spray foam the background too. I'll post a picture of that later.
Hopefully this whole thing turns out ok. Lol. The wife likes it so far I guess that's what counts. Lol.

Well I got all the spray foam done. Maybe a little carving to do and some touch up. Then it's on covering the background. Guess I have an understanding wife. Last night was our wedding anniversary and I was working on this viv. Lol. Gave her some wine and she was happy. Lol[IMG][IMG]
